A Cigarette's Journey

Tobacco is one of the oldest stimulants known to and cultivated by mankind. Since prehistoric times, South American Indians have grown this plant of the solanum family, which only thrives in the sunniest regions of the world. Then, around 1560, tobacco began its conquest of Europe. Today, it is the most widespread stimulant in the world.

Tobacco

Tobacco is smoked in pipes, in form of cigars or cigarillos, and, by far the most common form, as cigarettes. However, the road from the initial sowing of the minuscule tobacco seeds to its final cutting and rolling in special cigarette paper is indeed long. Tobacco must be harvested, cured and fermented, then blended and processed before it reaches its final stage.
